Rashaad Penny outrushes Chris Carson

Since returning a few weeks ago Rashaad Penny has run the ball 11 times for an average of 3.1 yards a carry. This will change on Saturday. Chris Carson will get more carries than Penny but Penny will get more yards. This is because Penny will break off two runs of over 20 yards while Carson will get a lot of carries for little gain.

The exciting thing is that Penny will get these long runs on broken plays where he creates the yards on his own. Penny will show explosiveness after getting free and break a few tackles doing so. In fact, Penny’s runs will be so impressive that it may affect the way the Seahawks think about re-signing Carson this offseason.

Carlos Hyde will fill some time getting carries as well but he won’t gain much. Most of Hyde’s carries will be runs up the middle that get stuffed. I doubt Hyde gets more than 15 yards rushing on 7 carries.

Penny won’t score a touchdown on Saturday, though. Carson will. This will be a close game and red zone efficiency will be one of the differences in the game and Carson will find a way to score not one but two touchdowns on runs inside the 3-yard line.
