The Seahawks will win as the defense dominates

Saturday’s Wild Card game between the Seahawks and Rams will be an ugly one. First, the Rams have the number-one defense in the NFL and a quarterback who is either injured or inexperienced, depending on who plays. Secondly, Seattle’s offense is not playing well and is unlikely to put up a bunch of points against a really good defense.

It is a bit of a football cliche to say teams fight for every blade of grass but if there is any game that will be the picture of that cliche it will be this one. The Rams and Seahawks are two teams now that if their defenses do not play well their team does not win. That is strange to say after the way the Seattle offense started this season but it is still true.

One important thing to note here is that while Russell Wilson seems a bit off throwing the ball he also is being more cautious. The team that makes the fewest turnovers will win this game and that team will be the Seahawks. Wilson will not throw an interception but Jared Goff will. (Or, if Wolford plays instead, he will.)

The score will be much like the Seattle and Los Angeles matchup of week 16 only a little closer. Seattle will win 21-14 and move on to the next round. D.K. Metcalf won’t get many catches but Tyler Lockett will get 8 and Carson will get his two touchdowns.
