Ranking how Seattle Seahawks rookies did in 2020

Seahawks top two
Number 2: linebacker Jordyn Brooks
Jordyn Brooks appears to be the player who will break the Seahawks jinx of first round underperforming players. I don’t want to use the word bust there because 2019 first round pick L.J. Collier wasn’t bad in 2020 but he also didn’t put up first round pick numbers. But in limited time that grew over the season, Brooks made a greater and greater impact on Seattle’s defense. He led Seattle in tackles in two of the Seahawks last five games and Brooks was in on 8 tackles or more in four of Seattle’s final five games.
Brooks still has a lot to work on, like making more of an impact in tackles-for-loss and coverage assignments, but he will get better at those with more playing time. And to think Brooks may have only been drafted because Seattle found no trade partner to trade down in the draft as they seemingly always do with their first round pick.
Number 1: right guard Damien Lewis
Damien Lewis was the Seahawks best rookie in 2020 as he started every game for Seattle and was a very good run blocker. According to Pro Football Focus, Lewis was the 13th-best graded guard in the NFL this year overall and sixth-best at run blocking. Run-blocking is exactly why Seattle took Lewis in the third round in the 2020 draft and Lews did not disappoint.
Seattle does need to fix some issues with its offensive line in 2021 but Lewis isn’t one of the problems. In fact, he should be even better next year and beyond and could soon be a Pro Bowler and an anchor on the line for the next 8-10 seasons.
