As we build up to the 2021 NFL draft later this week, we have all got draft fever. Following the recent piece by my counterpart Lee Vowell on the Seahawks best picks of the John Schneider/Pete Carroll era, it made me think what are the best picks the Seahawks have ever made.

If nothing else it gives us older fellas an opportunity to get all nostalgic about the great players of the past and bring back all those fond memories of all the entertainment they brought us over the years. And maybe, it will allow me an opportunity to introduce some names for the younger generation to put into search engines and find all the great clips of these great players.

To compile this list, I looked at all the drafts since the Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976, and also as a sense check all the Seahawks that have appeared in a pro bowl or an All-Pro team and were drafted by the Seahawks.

Seahawks all-time best draft picks

So hopefully I have not missed anybody I should not have, but feel free to let me know if you feel I have. I have found forty draft picks that merit inclusion so will list them from forty down to the best ever in the following pages.

Factors that I have included in my rating of these picks include

  • How great they were or are.
  • Length of time with the Seahawks.
  • Round/Pick they were selected with.
  • How many times they have been elected to pro bowls or All-Pro teams.

As a result, I have forty players that should bring happy memories to all that read it and raise the anticipation levels for who the next great picks could be later this week.

As a taster, the list contains 1 QB, 1 defensive lineman, 3 special teamers, 5 wide receivers, 5 offensive linemen, 6 running backs or fullbacks, 8 defensive backs or safeties and 11 defensive ends or linebackers.

So who are these forty Seahawk greats?
