Target number 4: Geno Atkins, DT

We have talked about getting the band back together with aging Seahawks stars. What if it’s a different band that is actually getting back together? The combination of Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap reconnecting in the Pacific Northwest is something the fans should get excited about.

Atkins has been considered one of the best defensive tackles of the 2010s. He made 8 Pro Bowls, with his most recent being in 2019. However, with the clock resetting in Cincinnati, it didn’t make sense for the Bengals to hang on to their aging star.

This is where a true playoff contender comes in. Atkins may be getting older. However, he is still a very solid 3-tech. Reuniting the duo of Carlos Dunlap and Atkins has the possibility of making this the best defensive line Seattle has had since 2013.

Atkins is going to be a hot commodity. Numerous teams already recruiting him despite not yet being medically cleared. As it is today, he is slated to be cleared for football activities somewhere around the beginning of July.

Fortunately, having Dunlap already under contract and happy with the organization gives the Seahawks a running start for Atkins services. I do not doubt that Dunlap will help recruit Atkins to come to Seattle. This signing makes too much sense for the Seahawks with Jarran Reed no longer manning the 3-tech.

Contract estimate: 1 year, $4.25 million with incentives to $5.25 million.
