Standout player #1: Ahkello Witherspoon, CB

I wanted to make sure I started here. Many fans and analysts have pegged the Seahawks cornerback room as weak. In fact, most websites have the Seahawks defense in the bottom third of the NFL. Many times they mention the lack of proven talent in the cornerback room as the culprit.

The Seahawks coaches and management don’t care. Do you know why? It is because they feel they have stumbled across some gems. Number one on this list is Ahkello Witherspoon.

Witherspoon has always had the athletic profile to be successful. His closest comparison athletically per Mockdraftable is Richard Sherman. He is a long-armed, tall, and instinctual player with phenomenal explosiveness.

The Seahawks were constantly connected to Witherspoon back in the draft. However, their rivals (49ers) picked him up before they could connect. Now with a proper chance to right a wrong, Seattle may finally have their long-term number one cornerback.

Witherspoon has had an up and down career thus far. However, no one can deny the talent he has displayed in bursts. The main issue for him is the lack of consistency. The culprit for this lack of consistency is a litany of injuries that have thus far plagued him.

Now that he is finally healthy, he is looking to put the NFL on notice. He has had multiple incredible pass break-ups that has the Seahawks brass gleaming right now. He is a player to keep a close eye on as the pre-season games get going.
