Seahawks odds for a deep run in 2021 are surprisingly not good

We are just weeks away from the Seattle Seahawks kicking off the regular season against the Indianapolis Colts. With close to two weeks of training camp under our belts, I figured now would be the appropriate time to glance over the betting odds for the Seahawks. Primarily because odds can tell you a lot about a particular football team.

So far this camp, we’ve heard from various wide receivers that the biggest difference with Shane Waldron as the offensive coordinator is the uptempo pace that has been implemented. Quite frankly, I think most are going to have their eyes on this Seattle offense throughout the 2021 season. While the secondary might be considered the biggest weakness of this team, all eyes will be on Russell Wilson.

Numerous different outlets have numerous different outcomes for the Seattle Seahawks in terms of placing in the hardest division of the NFL — NFC West. Let’s see where WynnBet places the Seahawks in Super Bowl odds, division finish and win totals.

Seahawks odds for winning in 2021

Super Bowl Odds: Seattle Seahawks (+2800)

WynnBet gives the Seahawks the 14th best odds of winning the Super Bowl. It is worth noting that divisional rivals, Rams (+1200) and 49ers (+1300) are placed ahead of them. That alone tells you that Vegas believes the Seahawks do not have a great chance of winning their own division.

Now, if you truly believe the Seahawks have a solid shot of winning the Super Bowl, then this is a pretty good bet. The way it is currently situated, if you were to bet $25 on Seattle winning it all and they did, your payout would be $700. Obviously, the more you bet, the higher your winnings would total.

NFC West Odds: Seattle Seahawks (+260)

As alluded to earlier, the Seahawks have the third-best odds to win the NFC West. The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams rank ahead with the same odds (+180) of capturing the NFC West. The Seattle Seahawks haven’t repeated as NFC West Champs since 2013-2014 when they also made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.

While the defense has some weaknesses, the one thing we know about this Seahawks team is that they have a winning culture. Since the arrival of Russell Wilson, the Seahawks have had 9 straight winning seasons. Also, both San Francisco and Los Angeles have large questions looming over their organizations. After selecting Trey Lance with the 3rd pick in the 2021 draft, when will he see the field as the starter?

If sooner rather than later, will be he good enough to lead this team to success in the toughest division in the NFL? Of course, Los Angeles made a large move in the offseason, acquiring QB Matthew Stafford. But, some are doubting if he will be able to win the big game as that has been his biggest weakness throughout his career.

Win Total: 10 (+325)

With an extra regular season game added to the schedule, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The lowest win total in the Russell Wilson era is 9. While Seattle will face some tough defensive units this year (Los Angeles 2x, San Francisco 2x, Pittsburgh, Washington, Indianapolis), this is probably the safest bet of all three mentioned within this article.

With the new emphasis on throwing the ball more efficiently – meaning more short, intermediate routes – Seattle will cause more problems for opposing defenses. This will also allow them to run the ball more efficiently, leading to a better play-action game as well. All of that equals a winning formula.

What does this mean for the Seahawks?

Well, really this means nothing because odds just serve as a preposition to what Vegas believes this team is capable of. But, they are wrong all the time.

Last year, not too many expected Seattle to finish atop the NFC West with a record of 12-4. This season, many expect the 49ers and Rams to reclaim the division title. But, there is a reason why talk is cheap. Nowadays, it’s free.

Next. 3 edge rushers Seahawks could have had instead of Aldon Smith. dark

The playing will do the talking for this team and I think many are underestimating an “unapologetic” Russell Wilson and Seahawks unit.
