The Seattle Seahawks led 24-9 at halftime in week two but got thoroughly outplayed by the Titans in the second half and lost 33-30 in overtime. But this game showed more worries than just a single loss. For the second time in two weeks, Seattle’s offense went in the tank.

Seattle scored a bunch on some flukey plays so we shouldn’t disregard that and the reason for this is because plays like the way the Seahawks scored – a 63-yard pass to Tyler Lockett and 68 yards to Freddie Swain – are not sustainable. Seattle scored because of Titans breakdowns, not because of the way Seattle schemed.

And now in the first two games under new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron the offense has scored a total of 13 points but had several three and outs and simple blocking breakdowns or poor decisions by Russell Wilson. What we may have thought we saw in the second half against the Colts, not being overly aggressive because Seattle had a big lead, wasn’t what we truly witnessed.

What we did see is an opposing defense going into halftime, making adjustments, and Waldron and the offense not being able to make in-game adjustments themselves. The issue with this is there is no proof things will get better with Waldron because he has no history of being an offensive coordinator to show otherwise.

Seattle also failed to be good on defense in the second half as well. Tennessee ended up outgaining Seattle 532 yards to 397 and averaged 6.4 yards a play. Derrick Henry had 35 yards rushing at halftime and finished with 182. Tennessee had 42:33 of time of possession and Seattle had 22:42.

Seattle also had 10 penalties (D.K. Metcalf had several on his own), 5 of which gave Tennessee first downs. And while the Seahawks special teams are good overall, Michael Dickson had too many punts go into the end zone that could have been downed inside the 20 and Jason Myers missed an extra point that would have forced the Titans to go for 2 late in the game instead of tie the game with an extra point of their own.

Tennessee deserved to win this game but the Seahawks also lost it. Seattle seemed to choke on offense in the second half and the defense couldn’t get off the field. But the biggest problem with all this is that the schedule doesn’t get any easier so we could be looking at a lost season for Seattle and major changes after the year unless the offense corrects itself in second halves and the defense is better overall.
