The Seahawks are underperforming. No, it’s worse than that. Coming into the season, this was their all-in year. They’re in a make-or-break season. Super Bowl or bust. Right now, they look like they are on the verge of imploding.

The most important thing is getting the players all on the same page. During the game, the defensive players were constantly pointing at one another and casting blame. After the game, the coaches were thrown under the bus because of the inept scheme.

The truth is likely that both are accurate, as well as a lack of talent. There are certain holes that anyone who paid at least a little attention to the roster construction could see. Yet, the team failed to address them.

Some players are simply not performed up to expectations. Jamal Adams has been an average player. LJ Collier has been a healthy scratch two times in three weeks. We expected the tight ends to be actively involved. That hasn’t happened.

The defensive pass rush looked like a juggernaut on paper. Yet, they have failed to apply consistent pressure. The holes in the coverage are so wide that an incompletion is likely a mistake on the quarterback/ wide receiver, not a success by the defense.

The ways to fix this with the current roster:

  • Get the team on the same page.
  • Improve the communication.
  • Take a long look at the roster and see where the team isn’t utilizing the talents to scale.

I wrote an article about moving Jamal Adams to linebacker. Would it be perfect? No. However, this would ensure that the team puts its best players on the field. Simply put, I would rather have Marquise Blair or Ryan Neal on the field at strong safety than Cody Barton at linebacker. Jamal Adams currently plays a blend of linebacker and safety as is in the Bear-front the defense employs.

Outside of these options, they could bring in additional talent. I found five players that look like they could step in and make an immediate impact. Try to right his ship before it gets any farther off course.
