CB D.J. Reed

Let’s start with the person who most would agree that deserves to be back in Seattle next season. D.J. Reed has had quite the journey in the NFL. Heck, just alone in Seattle he’s been put in a lot of different situations where it just felt as if it wasn’t going to work out. He started off on the right side, then was put in the slot as Seattle felt Tre Flowers could handle his own on the left side. Not to mention the numerous injuries he dealt with.

Through it all, Reed never lost confidence in himself and it paid off as he seemed to find his comfort zone in the 2021 regular season. After getting shredded by the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, the Seahawks decided to make some changes. They moved off Tre Flowers, gave Sidney Jones more playing time. But, most importantly, they started D.J. Reed on the right side. Ever since that moment, he started playing much better. I remember watching him in Week 5 against the Rams, he was just playing with a tremendous amount of confidence.

He started to play on his instincts, causing him to be more aggressive and thus, being involved in more pass breakups. The evolution of Reed throughout his young career has been fascinating and after earning a career-high 78.6 grade by PFF, he has earned the right to secure the bag this offseason. With a steady idea of what Reed can provide on a week-to-week basis on the right side, Seattle must be able to acquire another cornerback who they can rely on the left side.
