The Seattle Seahawks are in a relatively good position when it comes to cap space this offseason. Other teams, like the New Orleans Saints, are not; Seattle should take advantage of other teams’ misfortune, especially the Saints.

New Orleans has been a mostly good team for quite some time now. But they are undergoing a coaching change – out is the retiring Sean Payton – that will certainly change how the offense looks. New Orleans promoted defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to take over for the offensive-minded Payton.

New Orleans also has the least amount of cap space in the league ($-42,245,453) heading into this offseason which means their top-end free agents might not be able to stay with the team. This is where the Seahawks can be a winner.

Three free agent Saints the Seattle Seahawks should sign this offseason

P.J. Williams

The strength of P.J. Williams is his versatility. He can play anywhere from slot corner to safety. Seattle might need help at multiple positions in the secondary in 2022. Safety Quandre Diggs is a free agent as is the Seahawks top corner D.J. Reed. Maybe both return or neither but Williams could potentially replace either one.

In 2022, Williams had arguably the best season of his five-year career. He had career-highs in interceptions (3 – one of which he returned for a touchdown), quarterback hits (4 which was 4 more than Jamal Adams had in 2021), sacks (2) and tied for his career-high in tackles for loss (3).

Williams will be 29 years old in Week 1 of the 2022 season so he might be playing the best he can currently, but that is certainly a chance Seattle should take and try to lure Williams to Seattle on a two-year, $6 million deal.
