Terron Armstead

I realize we have written multiple articles at 12th Man Rising over what we think is the fact that the Seahawks need to sign Terron Armstead. They do. Duane Brown has been very good in Seattle for several years but Seattle also needs to find his long-term replacement. Armstead is just that.

Armstead will be 31 years old when the 2022 season begins but left tackles in the NFL seem to be playing longer and longer and at a high level. Just see Brown and the Rams recently-retired Andrew Whitworth as examples. This should mean Seattle signing Armstead would give the team a very good left tackle for the next five years.

Armstead would be joining Seattle during a time when the team is doing a bit of rebuilding, of course, but adding a player like Armstead would move that rebuild along more quickly. The Seahawks still have a bunch of talent on the roster and shouldn’t be expected to just be terrible anyway.

Armstead will be able to protect a rookie quarterback, should Seattle go in that direction in the 2022 NFL draft, or give a veteran quarterback more time to throw to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. In the last four years combined, Armstead has allowed just 5 sacks. Armstead won’t be cheap but he will be worth whatever is paid to him. He does have an injury history but his talent is too much to pass up.
