Rounds 2 and 3

Day 2 of the Draft is where the bulk of talent will be selected by Seattle in my mock.  I have them making two trades down to pick up more draft capital in the later rounds, but still grabbing 4 talented guys before the end of the third round.

The Seahawks’ first pick of day 2 comes at the 40th overall spot, where they take:

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 40. player. 815. EDGE. Oklahoma. NikBonitto

Bonitto is an excellent run defender and is dangerous rushing the passer, with 19.5 sacks in the last 3 seasons at Oklahoma.  His draft stock may have fallen over the past few months, and I think he would be a great pick in the early second round. The Seahawks are currently looking at starting Darrell Taylor and Uchenna Nwosu at outside linebacker in the 3-4, but Nwosu may be a short-term solution.  Grooming a player like Bonitto under these two-star players would be a great idea.

Pick Analysis. OT. Washington State. 41. player. 846. Scouting Report. AbrahamLucas

Abraham Lucas is big (6’7″, 319 pounds) and can move.  The team currently holds Stone Forsythe as its starting left tackle, and Lucas could come in and start over Forsythe day one.  If Duane Brown is resigned, it would be fine to sit Lucas behind Brown, but I get the feeling that Brown won’t be back.  If the team drafts a quarterback, he needs immediate protection, and Lucas would certainly aid the line.

G/C. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Memphis. DylanParham. 57. 858

Dylan Parham is a mobile, pass-blocking interior lineman who would be a great fit in the Shane Waldron offensive scheme.  The inside of the offensive line is actually in a fine spot now, but Parham could serve in one of two roles in 2022:  backup Austin Blythe at center, or start at guard in place of Gabe Jackson if Jackson is cut.  Either way, he’s a solid piece to add to the inside of the o-line for the future.

Everyone likes to talk about how Pete Carroll has shifted away from his long, lanky corners.  I think Carroll will use anyone at an outside corner spot, and McCollum certainly is long and lanky.  He stands at 6’4″ and only weighs 201 pounds.  This move would allow Tre Brown to hold onto more of the slot work, and McCollum would get a shot at starting on the outside opposite Sidney Jones.  I think he’s a raw talented player who could be molded into a great piece in the secondary.
