Seahawks full 7-round mock draft: A new QB and lots of help in the trenches
Seahawks round 1
In the first round, I have the Seahawks making a trade down a few picks with the Washington Commanders:
Making the pick swap allows the Hawks to pick up another selection in the meaty part of this draft, the early second round.
With the 11th pick in the draft, the Seattle Seahawks select…
You’ll have to excuse my jumping on the Malik Willis hype train, but I’ve been on it since the team moved Russell Wilson. The guy has the physical attributes belonging to a future superstar and seems to have the character of an excellent leader. His arm is big, he runs hard and fast, and he can escape the pocket and extend plays.
I’m afraid his excellent showings at the Combine and at Liberty’s Pro Day have pushed Willis’ draft stock to a place where he’s unattainable for Seattle, but if he remains on the board at the 9th pick (or 11th in this case), I feel like he’s a slam dunk project pick for the Seahawks to make.
He’ll have to take some time to develop his game and get better at taking snaps from under center (something he rarely did in college), but in theory, you have the next big thing (the next Watson, the next Mahomes, etc.) ready to rock and roll in 2023.
In the top 15, the talent is certainly there for each prospect. I’m just too all in on Willis to think anyone else is more exciting.
