Seahawks rookie corners might be future superstars

As I alluded to Sidney Jones being more of a leader, he will have a stable of young rookies poised with great potential to help mentor. This year’s past draft saw the ‘Hawks take two extremely promising corners with back-to-back picks. Cornerbacks Coby Bryant and Tariq Woolen are poised for very big things.

Let’s start with Coby Bryant, the potential steal of the draft for the ‘Hawks. Bryant was on one of the best defenses in college football last year at Cincinnati and proved to be a vital member to the team’s success. Bryant ultimately won the honor of the Jim Thorpe Award (which typically gets awarded to the best defensive back in college football) and somehow still managed to fall to the Seahawks in the fourth round.

Just one round later and with Seattle’s next choice, the ‘Hawks snagged Tariq Woolen. Woolen might have been the best athlete in the draft. He was once a wide receiver and then transferred into a cornerback. He has incredible size for the position at 6’4″ and 210 pounds. If that sounds familiar to Seahawks fans, it should. Former LOB member Richard Sherman had a similar draft profile.

The big difference with Tariq Woolen is this young man is not only very tall, but he accompanies that size with a blazingly fast 4.26 40-yard dash speed. With both rookies already impressing at camp, there’s no doubt that the Seahawks have a couple of potential gems on their hands in the cornerback room.
