Seahawks edge rushers/outside linebackers (5): Darrell Taylor, Uchenna Nwosu, Alton Robinson, Boye Mafe, Tyreke Smith

A lot like the offensive line, this unit is likely to either boom or bust. Nwosu is by far the veteran of the group and he has only played four seasons. Taylor will be entering for what is all intents and purposes his second year and Robinson has played for two seasons but not gotten enough snaps. Mafe and Smith are rookies.

But Nwosu had 17 quarterback hits for the Chargers in 2021 and 5 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. Taylor had 13 quarterback hits and 6.5 sacks. Robinson has played for two years and only 32 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in that time but still has a total of 10 tackles for loss, 5 sacks and 7 quarterback hits. He simply needs to be on the field more.

Mafe has a natural bend to his pass rush like Taylor has. Smith is still raw in his knowledge of how to play but definitely has the physical skills to be productive.

Seattle is taking a chance that this young group can be fast and hungry and explosive. If it pays off, Seattle will be a force. If it doesn’t, opposing quarterbacks will have a fun time throwing against the Seahawks, just as they did in 2021.
