Seahawks edge rushers/linebackers

53-man roster: Jordyn Brooks, Cody Barton, Darrell Taylor, Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe, Tyreke Smith, Alton Robinson and Nick Bellore

Practice squad: Tanner Muse and Vi Jones

While this group does seem to have loads of great potential, they also could be boom-or-bust. Taylor was fantastic at times in 2021 but also inconsistent and even more as the season grew old. Nwosu is a must-be-very-good player and he hasn’t had that kind of role in seasons before. He’s been solid, sure, but he needs to be much better than that in 2022.

Rookies Mafe and Smith have been up and down so far, as rookies are. Mafe was great against the Steelers but didn’t do much against the Bears. Smith has missed a lot of time in training camp with injuries. He could start on injured reserve.

Robinson banged his knee against the Cowboys but seems OK for the most part. He can offer an inconsistent pass rush. And Bellore is a special teams ace who needs to be on the roster as much for that as anything else.

Brooks and Barton should both be good (Brooks should be one of the better linebackers in the NFL) but where is their depth? Let’s just hope neither gets injured.
