Seahawks cornerbacks

53-man roster: Sidney Jones IV, Artie Burns, Coby Bryant, Tariq Woolen, Justin Coleman and Mike Jackson

Like the receivers, I think the Seahawks keep one more cornerback in 2022 than they normally do. And the same reason for the receiver group applies here: There are simply a lot of unknowns in the unit. There also could be high-end talent as well but there is so much youth that mistakes are going to be made so having an extra player in the rotation might be needed.

There has been some talk about how Tariq Woolen is making a real play to be a starter in Week 1. He has been better than expected this early in his career but I don’t know if he is truly ready to start against Russell Wilson.

The same could be said of Coby Bryant who was solid against the Steelers, though he missed a lot of tackles, but not quite as good the last two games. Bryant has also been used as the slot corner but I think Justin Coleman keeps that spot for now.

That means Seattle’s likely Week 1 starters are Sidney Jones and Artie Burns. Jones should be OK. I am not a big fan of Burns, however. I think he gives up too many easy completions in front of him. Mike Jackson doesn’t do that but he also doesn’t have high-end speed downfield. Still, he should stay on the roster.
