Complete rundown of Seahawks injuries heading into Week 1
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks are a bit over a week away until they start their 2022 against the Denver Broncos. Which Seattle players are dealing with injuries?
The Seahawks depth is already being tested a bit and this is even though Seattle will have a lot of players with very little NFL experience playing key roles to start the season. While some of the young guys are hurt, some important veterans are questionable for Week 1 as well.
Some of Seattle’s hurts might force rookies into prominent roles against Russell Wilson and the broncos and this might not be the best way for those players to get their first taste of real professional football.
So who is injured for Seattle with a week to go before the season begins? Let’s take a look,
Seahawks injury list ahead of Week 1
Injured reserve
Defensive linemen L.J. Collier started training camp apparently well but has been dealing with an elbow injury for weeks now and will be on IR to start the season.
Cornerback John Reid hurt his groin and is also on injured reserve.
Receiver Cody Thompson is on IR as well but would have struggled for a roster spot had he not been hurt.
Rookie edge rusher Tyreke Smith has a hip injury and will also begin on IR.
Physically Unable to Perform
Second-year CB Tre Brown is still dealing with a knee injury he suffered in Week 11 of 2021 and won’t be back until at least Week 5.
Linebacker Jon Rhattigan is also on the PUP list.
Questionable
The Seahawks must have a great pass rush against Russell Wilson. But a couple of the young guys expected to make impacts in 2022 might miss Week 1. These are rookie Boye Mafe (shoulder) and third-year player Alton Robinson (knee).
Rookie running back Ken Walker III had hernia surgery a few weeks ago and is probably unlikely to play against Denver.
Cornerback Sidney Jones still has been cleared to play after suffering a concussion. If he can’t go, rookies Coby Bryant and Tariq Woolen are going to get a lot of snaps.
Starting right guard Damien Lewis hurt his ankle in preseason game 2. The injury isn’t as bad as it first looked but he could still miss a few weeks.
Backup right tackle Jake Curhan is questionable with a back injury.
