Different stories for Geno and Jamal

  • Jamal can’t catch a break
    • Sucks man, I feel so bad for him. Hoping for some good news, but expecting the worst.
      Russ looked pretty good.
    • Russ’s new coach is one of the men responsible for turning Aaron Rodgers back into an MVP player. Why has Rodgers been so good? He’s had a great run game and has adapted to the easy passes and check downs. The easy passes and lack of always looking for the home run, has led to incredibly efficient numbers, while the Packers have been the best regular season team in the NFC for the past few years.
    • We saw a lot of that from Wilson tonight. He still looks like he’s lost all of his great mobility, but the play action and check downs got the Broncos to the goal line multiple times, but they failed to execute when it mattered most.
    • I expect Russ and that offense to click and put up some real numbers this year.
  • Geno for MVP
    • Speaking of great quarterback play, how about our champion Geno Smith!
    • Geno played the point guard role perfectly. He distributed the ball to the open man over and over and over, never forcing it to a main target.
    • He moved well behind a young line. Any pressure he felt, he beautifully escaped and hit an open man, including Will Dissly in that shocking touchdown early in the game. His only sacks came from getting hit on the blindside.
    • Geno Smith abused the middle of the field in a way we haven’t seen since Matt Hasselbeck. Fant, Parkinson, and Metcalf all made big plays across the middle on pass plays we simply never saw from Russ.
    • Geno has the heart of the team and the city. Even if he is not a captain, it was made clear tonight. Julio Rodriguez is coming for the crown of the town, but Geno may put up a fight if he continues to ball like this.
