The Seahawks defense continues to struggle

Even with a dynamic win that puts the Seahawks at .500 with a 2-2 record after a month, there is no denying that this team has a major problem on defense. Aside from the Tariq Woolen pick 6, that momentarily stopped the Lions’ offense, this Seattle defense kept getting shredded. The Seahawks cannot stop the run, and also, they could not stop Lions’ quarterback Jared Goff from throwing the ball.

Goff was able to throw for 378 yards and 4 touchdowns against this Seahawks defense, that for some reason kept allowing the Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson to get open. This was not supposed to be a shootout with multiple pass catchers from Detroit missing.

The Seahawks were gashed by Hockenson for 179 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. Adding insult to injury, was Hockenson’s yards after the catch, as no one can efficiently tackle him.

If the passing defense did not give the 12 nightmares, the ongoing issue by the run defense continued to struggle. The Seahawks allowed the Lions running back Jamaal Williams to run for 108 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. These are back-to-back games in that Seattle allowed a rusher to run for more than 100 yards. The Seahawks must address the defensive side of the ball, as they might get in trouble if their offense suddenly stalls.
