The Seahawks run defense continues to be a big problem

Another game, another poor showing by Seattle’s run defense. It continues to be a season-long theme for this team, and they are running out of time to fix this problem. As the regular season nears its closing time, the Seahawks must address this issue as they will be ousted quickly in the playoffs, if they make it, if they continue with this poor run defense.

The Seahawks were again gutted by Rams Cam Akers, who was coming off an Achilles injury last season. Although Akers did not have huge yardage (17 carries for 60 yards), he was able to score on the ground against the Seahawks. This was evident on the Rams‘ first offensive drive as they marched down the field for 77 yards which was capped off by Cam Akers’ 1-yard run to put the Rams up 7-0 early.

dark. Next. 3 Seahawks that led the team to a Week 13 victory

The inefficient run defense by the Seahawks puts a ton of pressure on their overall defense and negates their pass rush to be effective. Seattle must find a way to get better at getting through the line of scrimmage to be able to stop the opposing running backs to gain momentum and find big holes. Easier said than done, but Pete Carroll and the coaching staff have to do something to improve this facet of their game if they intend to be a real contender this year.
