Aaron Rodgers' Cardinals rumors are actually good for the Seahawks

It's been a long time since the Arizona Cardinals have been a legitimate contender or divisional threat. As an NFC West foe and rebuilding team, the Seattle Seahawks would certainly want that to remain the case.

That's why, as crazy as it may seem, the Seahawks should be rooting for Aaron Rodgers to ditch the Pittsburgh Steelers and sign with them. It might be the first time a fan base should want a future first-ballot Hall of Famer to join the division.

Rodgers has some close ties to this version of the Cardinals, and even though he's probably the greatest pure passer in the history of the game, having him in the desert will be better for the Seahawks in the long run.

Aaron Rodgers in Arizona would help the Seattle Seahawks

The Cardinals hired an offensive-minded coach in Mike LaFleur, and they added some interesting pieces to their offense, including star RB prospect Jeremiyah Love. However, they still don't have a quarterback for the future.

Carson Beck might as well be that guy, but they're not going to find that out with Rodgers there. And with a stacked quarterback class in the 2027 NFL Draft, having the Cardinals be slightly competitive would be a huge win for the NFC West. That would essentially rule them out of contention for a top-five pick, thus extending their rebuild for a little longer.

Rodgers is no longer the elite gunslinger he was in his prime. Sure, he can turn back the clock now and then and have a couple of big games, but he's been a shell of himself since he left the Green Bay Packers. Having him in the division won't pose an actual threat to the Seahawks, but it will elevate the Cardinals' floor just enough to keep them floating around .500.

While a return to the Steelers might still be in the cards and be the most logical decision, the fact that they used the UFA tag on him hinted at the possibility of another team keeping tabs on him. That way, the Steelers would get a compensatory pick if he leaves.

The Cardinals have Nathaniel Hackett as their new offensive coordinator, and he's one of Rodgers' closest friends in the league. Also, he already played for one of the LaFleur brothers, so he might as well join the other in his first head-coaching experience. It may sound far-fetched, but it actually makes sense, and it would be an ideal scenario for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
