3 bold predictions for Uchenna Nwosu in Seahawks’ Week 15 game versus Packers
One of the key pieces of the Seattle Seahawks' pass rush got taken out at the knees by a dirty hit in the preseason. That man is Uchenna Nwosu, and he made good on his promise to be back. It couldn't have come at a more significant time, as the Seahawks face a four-game span of important games against NFC competition.
Nwosu said on Seattle Sports 710 AM's Wyman and Bob program about his first game back from IR: "There was a lot of nerves going into this one ... it felt good.".
Here's to hoping he feels unstoppable this week. Although it's not always fun to talk about the business side of football, Uchenna Nwosu should be motivated by the fact that his employer may need to choose between himself and Dre'Mont Jones during the offseason. That's a problem for another day, as he looks to become a problem for the Packers this weekend, and an answer to how the Seahawks can get even better down the stretch.
The Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee may have only played 30 percent of Seattle's defensive snaps last week, but Uchenna Nwosu is back and gearing up for his third game of the season. He's only put 41 total snaps on tape this year, but it may be the perfect storm for him to wreck shop.
Three bold predictions for Seahawks outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu in Week 15 against the Packers
Seahawks fans will hold out hope that Nwosu is getting closer and closer to full strength and can contribute closer to 45-50 percent of snaps in the near future. He came over to Seattle to be more of a featured rusher than he was with the Chargers, and he has been a force in Seattle. Once he was injured in the final year of Pete Carroll, the defense's average rush yards allowed per game more than doubled. Enter an old foe...
Prediction 1: Chenna will help to set the edge and limit the Green Bay ground game to under 100 yards
The Seahawks will face off against a player who racked up 303 total yards against them a couple of years back, in Josh Jacobs. That was his Raiders days (during which Uchenna Nwosu was tasked with stopping him as a Bolt), and he is now a Packer.
The Hawks' defense has been playing great, but they did allow James Conner to rush for 5 yards per clip last week. Did you read the run defense stat in the paragraph above? Nwosu will pack it in, bring his hard hat, and be ready to set the edge against the run.
Prediction 2: Nwosu will Rip into the backfield to sack Jordan Love early
You’ve got to hope that making Green Bay one-dimensional would allow for some tee-off opportunities. The man that rocks #10 up front will get a takedown of the QB in the first half to set the tone for a surprisingly smashmouth game on Sunday. The pass rushers on the Seattle side will rotate through, but Uchenna should get his opportunities.
I'm not worried about post-Toyotathon Jordan Love… The Lions (sans Aiden Hutchinson) showed last week that you can pressure Mr. Love. This is big-game Chenna we're talking about.
Prediction 3: Uchenna Nwosu will forcefully knock pads with a former Seahawks player
Let's get wild and predict that Chenna will somehow hit a former disgruntled employee. There are only two men who fit that description on the Packer roster: quarterback turned receiver, Alex McGough and wideout Bo Melton. Bo Melton was unceremoniously released from the Seahawks before being given what felt like a fair chance. He went on to make some nice plays for Green Bay.
Don’t ask me how this whimsical and cathartic moment will happen, just keep your eyes peeled for it. I am but a vessel for this vision, and I will not be explaining anymore. Let's just hope the Seahawks come in starving on Sunday night. We all want to see them eat on national television.
