The Seattle Seahawks just won Super Bowl LX, but now it is time to pay up. While fans will celebrate the title forever, the team must quickly turn its attention to the business of football, and that could be finding players in free agency to replace those who leave the same way. One player of interest could be former Penn State star Arnold Ebiketie.

Ebiketie was a second-round selection for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 after spending one season with the Nittany Lions, where he had 17.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in 12 games. In four previous seasons, he played at Temple. He is 6'3" and 255 pounds, but has so far been somewhat underwhelming in the NFL.

He hasn't been bad, mind you. He has had two seasons with six sacks, but he seemingly just hasn't been a good fit in the Falcons defense. Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald might deliver just the kind of direction that Ebiketie needs to unlock his potential.

Seattle Seahawks might be able to unlock Arnold Ebiketie's potential

He has speed and explosiveness, but he's been lost in Atlanta's edge rush depth chart. His Pro Football Focus (subscription required) grades have been solid in terms of pass rush for the last three seasons, however. In 2025, he was also decent again the run. He also stays healthy, missing just one game in four years, and none in the last three seasons.

According to Spotrac, the edge rusher also has a very affordable projected asking price of $9 million a season in free agency, with a new contract of three years and $27,039,672. The Seahawks have plenty of cap room this offseason, but that could be eaten up quickly if the team prioritizes re-signing free agents such as Kenneth Walker, Riq Woolen, Rashid Shaheed, and Coby Bryant.

It would be the potential loss of Boye Mafe in free agency that would require a player to be signed. General manager John Schneider is brilliant at finding gems that have been overlooked by others, including their own teams. Macdonald has been a genius at creating a system where previously unproven players can succeed, Bryant among that group.

Seattle could also lose veteran DeMarcus Lawrence if he chooses to retire. The 33-year-old finally won the Super Bowl he wanted after not reaching that goal in his previous life with the Dallas Cowboys. He could choose to walk away on the highest of highs after winning the title with the Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks may be forced to rebuild their edge rush group this offseason if Mafe and/or Lawrence leave. Arnold Ebiketie could help do that. He would be part of a ruthless rotation that once again puts extreme pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
