This injury could potentially be his last in the NFL. On Saturday in a preseason game as the Vikings played at the New York Giants on the awful turf of MetLife Stadium, Adams was trailing a receiver on a crossing pattern when he suddenly fell to the ground, turned over, and held his knee. He tried to get up, but eventually needed to be carted off the field.
He was in the medical tent for quite some time, and two of his teammates who checked on him, Josh Metellus and Byron Murphy Jr., were visibly upset, according to The Athletic's Alec Lewis. Metellus was seen holding his head in his hands after exiting the tent.

To be sure, Minnesota will likely have to do more tests on Adams' knee to see the severity of the injury. Maybe Adams will be lucky, and things will look far worse than they actually are. But as Seahawks fans know, Adams has rarely been lucky when it comes to injuries.
He managed to play all 17 games in 2025, his only season with the Las Vegas Raiders, but between 2019 and 2024, he never played a full season. Between 2022 and 2024, he didn't play more than nine games. His career could have been so much more productive, but his body was seemingly 15 years older than his actual age. He broke down a lot.
He had his off-field issues in his last season with Seattle in 2023, including staying home (or going home) when he was told he wouldn't be suiting up for a late-season game. He also had a kerfuffle with a reporter for the New York Jets, the first team he played for.
Beyond those two incidents, though, his teammates appeared to like him, so he wasn't an issue in the locker room. He simply couldn't stay healthy. After being fortunate enough to play all of last year, his new injury might mean he never plays again. Teams don't like to take chances oftentimes on players who are injury risks. Jamal Adams is the ultimate injury risk.
