Former Seahawks' Dre'Mont Jones drops hilarious response to being fined

Was he right, though?

Dre'Mont Jones has trended up since he was released by the Seattle Seahawks this past offseason, a move that saved the team $11 million. The edge rusher (or whatever a team wants to call him, as he also plays along the defensive line) then signed with the Tennessee Titans, but he isn't there anymore, either.

That isn't his fault, though. The Baltimore Ravens saw some trade value in Jones and made a move for him in early November. In four games, he has 1.5 sacks and 11 total pressures. He is everything he wasn't with the Seahawks, but good for him.

He has also been fined for a sack he had in Week 12 against the New York Jets. After the sack, Jones made a gesture that was deemed "violent" by the NFL. The edge rusher made a motion around his throat, but, according to the player, he was trying to say the game was basically "over."

Maybe that was what he meant, but the NFL could have also logically interpreted the move as one that was violent. Jones should have understood that, too, and maybe he did.

Instead of going low and complaining about the fine, Jones made light of it. His contract pays him as much as $8.5 million this season, and the amount of the fine was, relatively speaking, small. While $14,055 is a lot for many people, it isn't for an NFL player.

Still, Jones probably made everyone laugh when he reacted on social media to the fine by saying, "I was just saying 'it’s over' like in a competitive sense and now my kids aren’t gonna have Christmas gifts this year," followed by a hashtag that said "thank you, NFL."

The sarcasm ran deep with the text, and hopefully most (though not everyone on social media did) appeared to understand that. Dre'Mont Jones will be able to afford presents for his children for Christmas, don't worry. $14,000 is not going to affect that. He knows it and made a joke of the fine.

More players should do that. It is endearing. Likely, Dre'Mont Jones will no longer make the motion of slicing, well...something, again, but if he does and the NFL fines him again, the reaction from the former Seattle Seahawks defensive player would be worthy of a read.
