Is DK Metcalf playing today? Latest updates for Seahawks star receiver
By Lee Vowell
The Seattle Seahawks have been without wide receiver DK Metcalf for three weeks. Luckily, one of those weeks was a bye week so Seattle did not play. After suffering a Grade 1 MCL sprain in Week 7, Metcalf missed the next two games - both Seattle losses - and the team struggled offensively overall. Metcalf is the best receiver Seattle has, and certainly the most consistently explosive.
As opposed to Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, opponents are forced to scheme for Metcalf a bit more. His size and speed mean difficult individual matchups. Safety help is needed quite a bit to make sure Metcalf doesn't suddenly go for a 70-yard touchdown. He can also grind out a few tough yards with his strength (though let's hope he doesn't struggle with more fumbles).
Here is the good news for Seahawks fans. Metcalf was able to practice fully all week for Seattle in the team's lead-up to Week 11's contest versus the San Francisco 49ers. Unless something comes up before game time, which is not expected, then DK Metcalf should be good to go against the 49ers.
Is DK Metcalf playing for the Seattle Seahawks versus the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11?
To be fair, Week 6 against the 49ers was one of Metcalf's worst games in years. He caught only three of his 11 targets for 48 yards. This has been a recent trend for the receiver against San Francisco. In his last three games combined versus the 49ers, Metcalf has caught just eight of his 25 targets for 132 yards and a touchdown.
If Seattle is going to start the second half of its season with a victory, Metcalf likely has to have a huge game. The Seahawks have not beaten San Francisco since December of 2021. If the team is going to turn around its season after finishing the first half of the season losing five of six games then Metcalf needs to catch more than half his targets and score a touchdown (or more).
The good part for the Seahawks is that DK Metcalf is going to play in Week 11. So will starting right tackle Abraham Lucas. As long as Olu Oluwatimi can perform well in place of newly retired Connor Williams, Seattle has a chance at a victory.
