The Seattle Seahawks won't have running back Jadarian Price in Week 4 after he aggravated a chest injury that he suffered in Week 3. The team will have safety Julian Love, who is likely more important at his position than Price is at his.
Seattle fans were reminded just how much Love affects the defense since he was signed in free agency in 2023. He played in the first two games of the season, and Seattle allowed 17 points. In his absence in Week 3, the Seahawks allowed the Washington Commanders, with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, to score 26 points.
Washington scored 33 total, but one touchdown came on an interception return for a touchdown. Julian Love could do nothing about that.
Seattle Seahawks will have Julian Love back in Week 4
Love injured his calf either in Week 2 or in practice and could not participate in practice ahead of the Week 3 loss. Thankfully, he went from limited to full-go ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. He might have some company, too.
Fellow starting safety Ty Okada has missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury, but was a full participant on Friday and is officially listed as questionable. One might wonder if Seattle will give Rodney Thomas II one more game to start before Okada returns in full in Week 5.
Thomas has been fine in Okada's absence, but AJ Finley was not in Julian Love's absence in the last game. With Love back, the entire defense should improve.
Possibly returning in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers is running back Zach Charbonnet. He hurt his knee against the 49ers in the playoffs last season, and once healthy, he might assume the role of RB1 for the Seahawks.
The team has struggled in the red zone without him. Plus, no Seattle running back has a rushing touchdown so far this season. Charbonnet had 12 last year.
Julian Love's injury history
- Calf injury, September 2026: Missed one game
- Hamstring injury, September 2025: Missed nine total games with the ailment
- Hamstring injury, 2023: Did not miss any games with the issue
Love has remained mostly healthy throughout his career until the last couple of seasons. Before being out in Week 3, he had a string of three straight games with an interception, including the Super Bowl last year against the New England Patriots.
