The Seattle Seahawks could be inching closer to having the offense they envisioned at the beginning of the season, but they simply needed to wait until running back Zach Charbonnet returned from last season's knee injury. Rookie Jadarian Price has been hurt too, though.

Thankfully, both are looking like they should be available in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. Neither running back had an injury designation, but Price still needed to be activated from injured reserve. That didn't need to happen until Monday.

The only question was whether Seattle would do that. After all, Charbonnet was practicing fully before Week 7 and was still made inactive for the game. That was a surprise to many.

With the presumed return of Price and Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks fans should probably expect a rotation at running back that also features Emanuel Wilson. Charbonnet likely still needs to be amped up in real games, and won't get as many carries as he would have if he had never been hurt.

Price has played this season, of course, but he has missed more games than he has played, and he is still a rookie. He might need to get used to the size and speed of the league again.

That might mean that Wilson still gets the majority of the carries, though he will be doing so behind an offensive line that looks a bit different than in Week 7. Seattle traded for left guard Quenton Nelson, and former starting left guard Grey Zabel will switch to the right side.

That should make the O-line better, but how quickly the unit builds cohesion is unknown.

Jadarian Price's injury history

  • June 2022 - Pedal Achilles tear (missed freshman season at Notre Dame)
  • August 2026 - Upper leg soreness (missed a week of training camp)
  • September 2026 - Chest injury (has missed four games)

As you can see, Price doesn't have a long history of being hurt, though that sometimes changes in the NFL. Rashaad Penny was a first-round pick for Seattle in 2018, hadn't been injured much in college, but then spent most of his NFL career missing games with various ailments.

Clearly, Price isn't expected to follow that back, though he still needs to prove he can stay healthy. Maybe after his first couple of issues with the Seahawks, he will be available for games for a long stretch.
