The Seattle Seahawks are coming off their best performance of the young season. They dominated the Kansas City Chiefs, handed them their first loss of the campaign, and proved that they can still be one of the teams to beat in the league.
Now, they'll look to keep their foot on the gas when they face one of the most explosive offenses in football. Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears will be a tough opponent, though they've struggled against winning teams.
Considering that, plus both teams' injury reports, some unusual suspects might stand out and have a big game in primetime. Let's take a look at the four Seahawks players who might shock the world in Week 8.
4 Seattle Seahawks who'll bee surprising standouts in Week 8
Byron Murphy II
To be fair, Byron Murphy II having a strong game wouldn't be surprising at all. He's an All-World talent nose tackle who rarely makes a mistake. However, he also plays in one of the most overlooked positions in the sport, one whose impact goes well beyond the stat sheet.
That won't be the case this time, though. The Bears lead the league with 154.3 rushing yards per game, and even without Kyle Monangai, they'll try to smashmouth their way downfield. As such, Murphy might have more work and more stats than he usually does.
Tory Horton
Rashid Shaheed couldn't return last week with a knee injury. There's still no official word on him, but even if he does play, he might not be as explosive, and the team might keep him in check until he gets back to full strength.
That should leave the door open for the explosive Tory Horton, who's had a disappointing start to the season. Still, he's the most obvious next man up, not only at wide receiver but also as a returner, and he's showcased his big-play potential in the past.
Julian Love
Caleb Williams loves to roll out of the pocket and improvise, even when he's not under pressure. The Seahawks' pass rush will keep him running for his life on every dropback, and that might lead to some rash and erratic decisions, especially when he pushes the ball downfield.
That's where the Seahawks' defensive center fielder can come in handy. Julian Love has a good nose for the ball, and with Williams trying to make something happen between the numbers, he might come down with a pick or two.
Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold hasn't been his usual self this season, so yes, watching him ball out will be surprising to a degree. He played better in the win over the Chiefs, but still threw a bad pick in the end zone and made some bad throws.
The Bears' secondary is quite vulnerable. Tyrique Stevenson and Jaylon Johnson are two liabilities, and with this potentially being a high-scoring matchup, the table is set for Darnold to drive up his numbers in this one.
