A recent Seattle Seahawks signing did not appear to change the course of the future of the franchise. Heck, the player might not even make the active roster next season. But Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is still upset about the move.
That is because the new Seattle signee, River Cracraft, recently played for the Dolphins. He did not appear to be overly productive on the field, but he clearly made an impression in the locker room and possibly on special teams. This is evident because of Waddle's immediate reaction after Cracraft left for Seattle.
The Dolphins receiver posted on Instagram (and shared by X/Twitter handle FinsXtra) showing a photo of Cracraft with the Dolphins but being signed by the Seahawks with a caption that read, "I'm hot about this one!!!"
Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle miffed at Seahawks signing River Cracraft
One might not have guessed that a star player would care so much about a player who had limited leaving. This implies that Seattle is not only getting someone many 12s will know from his days at Washington State but also one who is well-liked by his teammates. Likely one who would do anything he could to help his team win.
Waddle might have simply reached his limit as far as the Dolphins' personnel moves as many Fins fans seem to think that general manager Chris Grier's recent moves have been iffy at best. But the Dolphins are not our care here, of course, as the hope is that Cracraft helps Seattle win games.
There is a good chance that does not happen. This is not meant as an affront to Cracraft, but he has a career-high nine catches in two different seasons. so he is not going to do much to offset the losses of wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
He is a 30-year-old veteran, though, and one who might have more impact on a young roster about what it takes to be a good professional football player. For his signing with the Seahawks to cause a visceral reaction to an important player for Miami is a good sign. Just not for Jaylen Waddle, but maybe Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
