The Seattle Seahawks have lost wide receiver and fan favorite Jake Bobo to a knee injury on Friday. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed as much after practice on Friday, as the coach called the player's knee issue "serious."

But even that word doesn't appear to imply the initial thoughts the team had. Macdonald also added, "Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo. It seems like it's going to be a serious knee. We're gonna get an image, but early returns looks like it's going to be a long-term injury."

Besides what Macdonald said, his body language didn't indicate that Bobo's injury was one he would return from quickly. This late in training camp, there is likely a chance that Bobo's knee issue affects what he can do in 2027, too, at least in training camp.

Seattle Seahawks might have just lost Jake Bobo for quite some time

This past offseason, Bobo was brought back after the Seahawks matched an offer sheet to the player from the Jacksonville Jaguars for two years and as much as $5.5 million. Seattle matched the offer not because Bobo is expected to be among the top four Seattle receivers in terms of production, but because Bobo is a great voice in the locker room and a standout on special teams.

With the wideout seemingly out for the season, his absence will shake up the wide receiver room. 12s can expect Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and Rashid Shaheed to make the roster, of course. The same could be said of Tory Horton, but he is also struggling with an injury. He missed the second half of last season after suffering a shin injury.

Macdonald said he was "going to be out for a period of time. That sounds ominous, too, and will likely have Seahawks fans wondering if Horton can ever stay healthy enough to help the Seattle Seahawks win games over a long stretch of seasons.

For Bobo, he has been relatively healthy. He and fellow wide receiver Cody White were glue guys on the roster and needed in multiple facets of the game. Maybe each could catch a few important passes, but their presence on special teams also made the third phase of the game elite as well.

With Jake Bobo out, other receivers, such as Montorie Foster Jr., might have a chance to make the 53-man roster, with final cuts made on August 30. Foster is still a long shot to make the team, but he has the rest of camp and two preseason games to make a high-end impact.

Preseason Week 2 will happen on Sunday, August 23, when the Seahawks play the Tennessee Titans. With Bobo sadly out, the games have become must-watch for Seahawks fans because people are going to want to see who makes their argument to hang onto a roster spot as a receiver.
