The white throwback jerseys will return for the Seattle Seahawks, according to the new team owners, the Khosla family, who said this in a press conference on Wednesday, just hours before the team was set to kick off the 2026 season against the New England Patriots. The jerseys will have to wait until 2027, though.
Neal Khosla, son of Vinod and Neeru, dropped the information about the jerseys, but the issue is that the NFL requires any jersey updates or changes long before a season begins because of, well...money.
You see, the league makes a lot of money off jersey sales, and the NFL wants to know when it can start marketing things. Having certain weeks be set aside during a season for throwback jerseys to be worn is simply good business. A team cannot spring the change of uniforms on the league, or the NFL (seriously) could fine a franchise.

In other words, if the NFL loses money, it will punish those who forced it to do so. It's the ugly side of a fun business, but the Seahawks are simply a franchise of a global business, just like your local McDonald's is likely overseen by the overlords at headquarters in Chicago.
The white jerseys were mostly a 1990s thing, and though fans like them quite a bit, that decade was far from the team's most successful. In fact, the overall decade was the team's worst, if one throws out the start of the franchise in 1976. But at least the team looked good while not being overly successful.
In recent years, the return of the royal blue and apple green throwback uniforms was unleashed, and they looked terrific, as good as most fans remember from that time.
But let's not throw out the idea that the recent uniforms of the Seattle Seahawks haven't looked good. The team usually wears some of the best jerseys in the NFL. No matter what era of the Seahawks one loves the most, the team likely looked good while winning or losing. The positive part is that the team has done a lot more winning over the last few decades than losing.
