Devon Witherspoon - CB

There was a lot of speculation regarding the direction the Seahawks would take with the fifth overall pick in this year's draft, with most assuming they'd be taking a quarterback.

Instead, they took one of the highest-ranked cornerbacks of the class, Devon Witherspoon, confirming even further that Seattle will have an intimidating defense this fall.

Witherspoon has been hit with high expectations coming into his rookie season, with where he was drafted adding to his presumed value, and he has an ample opportunity to make a big impression right away as he's set to join an evolving group of cornerbacks in Seattle.

On top of that, some of the pressure may be taken off his shoulders with Woolen on the roster. This could allow Witherspoon to learn and grow from some of the best up-and-comers in the league and get a better handle on the differences between college and the NFL.

Because he will likely be a starter in week one, Witherspoon can showcase the work ethic that helped him reach this point.

His impressive college career certainly led him to be a high first-round draft pick, and generally speaking, those players have a lot to live up to, which can often be detrimental for a young player. But he's a proven talent with seemingly little to improve upon, at least according to nearly all scouting reports, and could become one of the best in the league fairly quickly.
