Seattle Seahawks 2023 Mock Draft: A final guess
We are officially in the 4th quarter of the NFL Draft process. The dream of the Seattle Seahawks fans having two top 37 picks, with the ultimate number 5 overall golden ticket, is becoming very real. Thanks to the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson being a massive disappointment, the Seahawks have an opportunity to add a blue-chip talent on a cheap salary at a draft pick slot they haven’t seen in over a decade. So naturally, we’re gonna mock up some drafts!
Over the past few weeks, we have been talking about potential mock drafts that could enhance, or completely reshape this roster. For drafting purposes, I used Pro Football Network’s rankings and mock simulator. Unlike PFF, PFN’s big board falls in line with the majority of the draft rankings you can find out there.
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve heard many rumors as we hurdle toward next Thursday’s finish line. We’ve heard reports that Seattle is enamored with cornerback Devon Witherspoon. Enough so that they may be interested in taking him as high as number 5. We’ve also heard rumors that the Seahawks would like to trade back from pick number 20 to collect more assets, before selecting either center available between John Michael Schmitz and Joe Tippman.
Our final guess at what the Seattle Seahawks will do in the 2023 NFL draft
During John Schneider and Pete Carroll’s pre-draft press conference, we also heard some very interesting bits of information from their time speaking with the media. While they are excited to have potential star DT Dre Jones in Seattle, they were stunned to be able to get him. This didn’t appear to be expected and so their budget may be a little tighter than they intended as the draft approaches.
Schneider hinted at needing more ammo on the defensive line, even with the Jones addition. They also told us that both Jamal Adams and Jordyn Brooks are doing well and trending to be ready for training camp. This is stunning, but terrific news. If healthy, we may finally see these two reach their potential in Seattle, while not forcing Seattle to reach at their positions in the draft.
Taking all of these rumors into account, here’s an updated mock draft of how the Seahawks may continue to build a championship roster.
