The Seahawks went all in on building their trenches on day three of the 2023 NFL Draft. Taking two IOL and two D-linemen in rounds four through seven. Seahawks fans had been waiting anxiously for John Schneider to add offensive and defensive line help and he certainly delivered on day three of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 2023 NFL draft appears to be a good one for the Seahawks. Time will tell if it is as good as 2022, but it could be even better. The last two drafts could be foundations of an eventual Super Bowl contender.

Seattle clearly had a plan heading into the draft. That is, take the best player available first, and take for need later. Here is who the Seahawks took on Day 3.

Seahawks made the trenches better on Day 3 of the 2023 draft

Right guard Anthony Bradford

Schneider selected guard Anthony Bradford from LSU with their first pick of day with the 108th pick in the draft. Bradford is a big and athletic guard listed at 6’4 332 Ibs, he also had a 40-yard dash time of 5.08 seconds. He was rated as one of the most athletic guards in this year’s draft. Bradford should be a powerful run blocker for Kenneth Walker III and recent draftee Zach Charbonnet for years to come.

Defensive tackle Cameron Young

The Seahawks then decided to take a run-stopper later in round four with the 123rd overall pick taking DT Cameron Young out of Mississippi State. Young is listed at 6’3" and 304 lbs and will likely replace AL Woods at nose tackle for Seattle. He is also known for his long arms and should be able to wreak havoc in the passing game.

Defensive end Mike Morris

The ‘Hawks then took DE Mike Morris at 6’5 275 lbs from the University of Michigan with the 151st pick in the draft. Morris is a powerful edge rusher who had a big senior year at Michigan with 7.5 sacks. Morris could end up being a steal for the Seahawks at pick number 151.

Center Olusegun Oluwatimi

Seattle then filled a huge need at center by taking Morris’ teammate at Michigan center Olusegun Oluwatimi AKA Olu at 6’3 309 lbs. Morris said he was incredibly happy to hear the Seahawks selected Olu with pick number 154, along with many Seahawks fans. Some draft experts believe Oluwatimi may be the best center in the 2023 draft.

Safety Jerrick Reed II

The Seahawks had to wait a while before picking safety Jerrick Reed II from New Mexico at pick 198. Having already selected Devon Witherspoon with the fifth overall pick in the draft, Reed II was a nice cherry on top of the Seahawks' secondary. He could serve as a solid backup to Tre Brown in Seattle’s defensive backfield.

Running back Kenny McIntosh

Schneider then found a hidden gem in the seventh round of the draft, taking RB Kenny McIntosh from Georgia at pick number 237 overall. McIntosh was upset he did not get selected earlier in the draft but was ecstatic to find out the Seahawks had selected him in the seventh round. Seattle now has four running backs on the roster with the additions of McIntosh and Charbonnet in this year’s draft.

All in all, this was a great day for the Seahawks to wrap up the draft. They added four linemen to strengthen the trenches plus they added a running back and a safety. To sum up day three the Seahawks added power and depth to a roster that needed it.
