CBS Sports says only two Seahawks worthy of being top-100 players

Just when you start thinking the Seattle Seahawks have an abundance of talent, national player rankings say, "Um, not so much." The problem is that several Seahawks remain underappreciated. Kind of like the whole team was prior to the 2022 and that ended up pretty well as Seattle made the postseason.

The players that made CBS Sports' recent ranking of Seattle players they think worthy of being named to the top 100 players are receiver DK Metcalf (of course) and cornerback Tariq Woolen. Metcalf is ranked 55th overall and Woolen is ranked 86th. So basically, Seattle doesn't have any players good enough to be ranked in the top 50 of the league.

I like that Woolen is ranked in the top 100, but there are a few others that should be (Metcalf is a no-brainer to be among the top players of the league). Tyler Lockett continues to get no love in the greater scheme of things. He keeps doing his job at a high level, doesn't say anything outlandish, and helps humanity off the field. Maybe he needs to be a bit more mouthy and he could get a good ranking.

But here's a good reason you can throw Pete Prisco of CBS Sports' ranking into the proverbial garbage. Not only did Lockett - who has four consecutive seasons of more than 1,000 yards receiving - not get listed among the top 100, he didn't even get an honorable mention. I mean, what?

Bobby Wagner, a sure Hall of Famer and who was second-team All-Pro last year for the Rams, also isn't among the top 100 players. It's almost like Prisco just threw a dart at a board of NFL player photographs and put those on his list. Not having Wagner on the list is criminal.

Wagner was listed among the honorable mentions, though, as well as Seahawks left tackle Charles Cross, quarterback Geno Smith, and defensive end Dre'Mont Jones. Besides Lockett not being named honorable mention, Seahawks Pro Bowl safety Quandre Diggs or running back Kenneth Walker III weren't mentioned either. Next time Prisco does one of these lists for CBS Sports, he just needs to think a bit harder about who is on it.
