Seahawks fans will have to get used to one frustrating aspect of Mike Macdonald

Macdonald is certainly different than Pete Carroll in one important way.

When Pete Carroll was the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, he was a bit more open than maybe he should have been about things. That simply came with his time with the team. He likely felt comfortable in his position with the team and maybe he felt untouchable as far as being the head coach and his role as the Vice President of Football Operations. Carroll was fired this offseason.

Oh, sure. He was still listed in an advisory role after he was relieved of his coaching duties, but that was because he had one year left on his contract, and that was guaranteed money. Carroll had spent 14 seasons with the team, so he had to do something. Still, when Carroll left, some of the open answers to questions did too.

Mike Macdonald is nearly half of Carroll's age - Carroll is 72 years old, and Macdonald is 37 - but in many ways, Macdonald is much more of a typical "old school" coach than Carroll. In terms of giving the media or 12s any updates on injured Seahawks, that seems unlikely to happen. We won't know who is playing each week, even based on the injury reports leading up to each game.

Seahawks fans need to get used to Mike Macdonald giving no information on injury news

On Monday, on his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710 AM, Macdonald delivered literally no updates on injured players such as Leonard Williams, Boye Mafe, and Uchenna Nwosu. The closest he came to an update was that linebacker Jerome Baker was relatively close to playing against the Detroit Lions.

Of the other players, Macdonald said each player had their own timeline for return, but there was no indication what those timelines might be. As far as rookie Byron Murphy II, he will probably be out for a while with a hamstring injury. Williams and Mafe? No idea. Uchenna Nwosu? Who knows?

Those players might be out for the rest of the season, or they might return in Week 5. Either is just as possible to happen based on what Macdonald said. This is a trend he has followed since he became the team's head coach so 12s should just get used to not having any new news.

Possibly, Macdonald wants to keep that information close to his vest as he does not want his future opponents to know. He also might not know himself and simply doesn't want to say as much. Either way, expect little injury information to come from Mike Macdonald in the future.
