Seattle Seahawks inactives versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1
By Lee Vowell
The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams should be fairly healthy entering the 2023 season, just like every other NFL should be healthy, right? I mean, there have been zero games played so how would a player have gotten hurt that was on the initial 53-man roster? Both the Seahawks and Rams are dealing with injuries already, however.
Seattle has a 53-man roster but they must make seven players inactive for each game. Some of the guys will actually be injured, but some just might be healthy scratches. For instance, former Seahawk LJ Collier earned a living - literally! - being a healthy scratch in many games between 2021 and 2022. See! You can make a good living in the NFL by being a player that truly doesn't apply themselves.
Heading into Week 1, we could assume some of the players Seattle would list as inactive. Jamal Adams (leg) was already said to be out, but as he is on the active roster and isn't on PUP or IR, he would need to be listed as inactive. The same could have been said for rookie running back Kenny McIntosh but he was placed on IR on Saturday.
Seattle Seahawks announce inactives for Week 1 of 2023
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Devon Witherspoon won't play on Sunday. Seattle is holding him out to make sure his hamstring injury isn't at risk of getting worse. Maybe Witherspoon will play in Week 2?
Seattle also decided to sit recent pickup Kyu Blu Kelly and Ben Brown. Kelly might have helped some on special teams. Either way, Kelly and Brown were not expected to play a big role in Week 1.
Rooke right guard Anthony Bradford is a bit of a surprise inactive. We better just hope starter Phil Haynes plays well and stays healthy. The offensive line is pretty thin already with quality depth.
Tyreke Smith rounds out the inactives. Seattle is fairly deep at edge rusher. This also means Derick Hall should be ready to go and that is very exciting prospect.

The Rams haven't yet posted their inactives. But we know Cooper Kupp won't play. Kupp is by far the most important Ram to miss the game.
