The Seahawks look to have a better roster in 2023 than in 2022. But the Seahawks are just one of several successful franchises in the Seattle area currently. Basically, it's a good time to be a sports fan in Seattle or for Seattle area teams.

Let's start with the Seahawks, of course. The team exceeded expectations in 2022 and made the playoffs. Now after a successful free agency period, a year of experience for the 2022 rookies, and the impending 2023 NFL draft where Seattle has a lot of high-end draft capital, 2023 should be even better. Only the regression of players like Geno Smith, Jamal Adams, and Tariq Woolen would really stop that.

But there is no reason to expect that to happen. Heck, Smith could be even better this coming season. Woolen should be too. So should be Ken Walker III and everyone else in last year's rookie class. But now that Dre'Mont Jones and Bobby Wagner have been added to the roster, the team could be very good.

It's a good time to be a Seahawks fan and a Seattle sports fan in general

The Seattle Mariners start their 2023 season on Thursday and after making the playoffs themselves in 2022 the team should be better this year. Julio Rodriguez looks like a superstar and one of the best players in baseball, though he needs to prove he can be good in year two and beyond as well. But the pitching staff is loaded, the defense should be stellar and with the shift now gone in baseball, players like Ty France should be even more productive.

The Seattle Kraken in year two are headed to the playoffs. Sure, they haven't clinched a postseason spot yet but they likely will. The Kraken only have nine games left and hold a Wild Card spot currently. Many of the teams below them have played more games so have less time to catch up. Seattle hockey is good and it's only going to get better.

At the start of the MLS season, the Seattle Sounders sit in second place. The Sounders are historically a very good team so there is no reason to think they will fade much. They should be a contender by the end of the season.

The Seattle Storm lost a bunch of talent last WNBA offseason and yet they are still near the top of the standings. Seattle might not have the star power of seasons past but they are still a threat to win a championship. And if you haven't been to a Storm home game, go. You won't regret it.

My point in all this is that it is a good time to be a fans of Seattle sports. And it won't end any time soon. The Seahawks start in September and they should contend not only for a playoff spot but a run deep into the playoffs.
