Seattle Seahawks 53-man roster projection after preseason Week 2

The Seahawks have just one preseason game left to make some tough roster decision before final cuts are made on August 29th.

Seahawks defensive line (6)

Dre'Mont Jones, Jarran Reed, Cam Young, Mario Edwards, Jr., Mike Morris, Myles Adams

In the two preseason games so far, the defensive line was bad early against the run. Reed and Jones didn't play against the Vikings so I was hoping that the run defense would be better early against the Cowboys, but it wasn't. Reed and Jones were simply bad against the run. I know that Bobby Wagner wasn't playing, but I'd like to see the defensive line stop runners before the linebackers have to clean up.

Adams made a couple of good plays so he seems to be a quality sub at this point. Edwards wasn't very good against the Cowboys either. I realize it is only the preseason and we cannot overreact too much, but the defensive line looks like it could be a problem this year.

Seahawks edge rushers (6)

Uchenna Nwosu, Darrell Taylor, Derick Hall, Boye Mafe, Tyreke Smith, Levi Bell

I am adding Bell here. Do I think he will actually make the team? There's a slim possibility, but he is endearing himself to the Seahawks coaching staff by showing he is willing to do anything to help the team. He even blocked on offense near the goal line and helped Seattle score a touchdown. Bell has a high motor and a strong lower body, but let's hope he sees some early reps against the Green Bay packers in preseason Week 3 to see what he can do against potential starts.

Mafe and Hall looked good against Dallas. In fact, Mafe has played extremely well in both preseason games. Good enough to be a starter in Week 1, I think.

Seahawks inside linebackers (5)

Bobby Wagner, Devin Bush, Jon Rhattigan, Ben Burr-Kirven, Jordyn Brooks

In the last projection, I had only four inside linebackers listed. Thankfully, Jordyn Brooks is now off the PUP list and should be ready early in the season, if not even in Week 1. But I didn't drop any players as I think Rhattigan and Burr-Kirven can be valuable players on special teams. Once Brooks returns, Bush will be a backup.
