Seattle Seahawks podcast: What Seattle should do in free agency
By Lee Vowell
The Seattle Seahawks have made several moves in order to get ready for free agency. While the team was struggling to get above the salary cap just a couple of weeks ago Seattle is not in the top ten of the NFL in cap room. This could imply that Seattle wants to be aggressive in free agency in 2024.
Seattle released safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, tight end Will Dissly, and defensive lineman Bryan Mone in the last week. This means Seattle now has north of $40 million to spend. Of course, not all of that money can go to free agents. The Seahawks have to sign their 2024 NFL draft picks as well plus members of the practice squad.
Still, Seattle is in a lot better shape than they were recently when they were in dire straits. But all those releases mean the team will have to find replacements. Seattle is currently barren at linebacker, tight end, and barely hanging on at safety. At least 2023 Pro Bowler Julian Love is still around to keep the back end of the defense safe. But he is about it.
Seattle Seahawks podcast: A guess about free agency
Which free agents should the Seahawks chase to fill these roles? We discuss that on the podcast. If you want to find out what we said then you must be some kind of masochist. Or just a fan of ours. Or, most realistically, one and the same. That's fine as that is our favorite kind of podcast listener.
Plus, our voices are not that great. We have faces for radio and voices made for silence. And yet still we talk and a few people listen. Maybe there are drinking games involved. And by drink, I mean tea. It's good for you, especially the green tea stuff.
