Russell Wilson does something in first half of Week 13 he never did with Seahawks
By Lee Vowell
Russell Wilson might not be a member of the Seattle Seahawks anymore, but that does not mean 12s have - or should have - lost interest. We might even feel better about Wilson after he washed out with the team that Seattle traded the quarterback to in 2022, the Denver Broncos. We can feel relatively bad for him. He makes a lot more money than most of us, though, so he's fine.
In Week 13 for his new new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson accomplished something he was never able to do with the Seahawks, though. In a positive way, so it's all good. At least, it is for Wilson.
He threw for 257 yards, something he was never able to do in Seattle, and, of course, never came close to doing with the Broncos. Wilson also had thrown for two touchdowns, so he wasn't just accumulating yards without being extremely productive. He was doing his work against a good Cincinnati Bengals defense too.
Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has a career-best with his new team
OK, let's just say they are good. They have been, right? But Wilson putting up that amount of yards against any NFL team is good. Heck, any quarterback throwing for more than half of 500 yards in a half is a notable thing.
To be fair further to Wilson, he began the year injured and seemed done. Justin Fields was starting for the Steelers and playing decently while the team was winning. Pittsburgh still replaced Fields with Wilson and he has mostly been excellent after taking over as the starter. He deserves to sign somewhere elsewhere unless the Steelers choose to keep him.
Maybe Wilson will find his way back to the Seahawks. Maybe we should not put that out into the universe, but it could happen, right? OK, maybe not. But it would be an interesting development.
