Not only are the Seattle Seahawks fresh off the franchise's second Super Bowl victory, but their commitment to Sam Darnold means that they don't have to worry about who is going to be the ever-important man under center in the immediate future. The rival Arizona Cardinals, however, do have that exact problem.

The Cardinals picked a bad year to need a quarterback. Despite owning the No. 3 pick, missing out on Fernando Mendoza means that the only quarterback worth a pick in the first two rounds is Alabama standout Ty Simpson. The way Daniel Jeremiah makes it sound, Simpson going to the desert is a fait accompli.

In an appearance on Pat McAfee's show, NFL Draft guru Daniel Jeremiah says that based on conversations he has had with teams, many expect the Cardinals to take the quarterback plunge with Simpson. Picking him in the second round at No. 34 or trading up into the first round could be appealing.

While Simpson is a solid prospect, teaming with rookie head coach Mike LaFleur in a meat-grinder of a division that will force them to play against Seattle twice every year is not going to intimidate the Seahawks very much. Kyler Murray may have been a much more productive option under center.

Seahawks fans will laugh at latest Ty Simpson-Cardinals rumors

Simpson has a strong arm and has impressed as a prospect between the ears, but with a limited number of starts under his belt, it's fair to question exactly how Arizona expects to contend with Seattle in the first few seasons of LaFleur's tenure.

Picking Simpson may also lock them out of drafting a signal-caller the 2027 NFL Draft, which is widely expected to be much better from a quarterback perspective. All of that works to Seattle's favor in the next few years.

With the San Francisco 49ers still in possession of one of the finest rosters in the league and the Los Angeles Rams standing out as perhaps the most hearty challenger to Seattle's throne, having a team like the Cardinals moored to the bottom of the division could be very reassuring for Seahawks fans.

A quarterback room of Simpson, Jacoby Brissett, and Gardner Minshew is not going to scare anyone when they roll into Seattle, especially considering how the rest of the roster remains subpar when compared to a Seahawks roster that is primed to once again fight for a championship.
