The Seattle Seahawks are going to be facing a world soon where Kyler Murray will not be with the Arizona Cardinals, as reports surfaced today that the Cards are releasing the quarterback. This isn't good news for Seattle because, well...Murray was so beatable.

With Murray, Seattle knew what it was getting with a Murray-led offense. He could run well when healthy, which was also in question, and he didn't have a weak arm. What he lacked was good decision-making, the willingness to study film closely, and seemingly the ability to get better.

In his career against Seattle, he was just 2-9 and had lost eight straight to the team in October 2020. Had he stayed with Arizona, a good chance existed that Seattle could count on two victories a year, and then whatever else they needed to get to the postseason.

Cardinals releasing Kyler Murray should be a bummer for Seattle Seahawks fans

In fact, the last time that Kyler Murray was on a winning team against the Seahawks, Russell Wilson was starting for Seattle, and Tyler Lockett had 200 yards receiving. Pete Carroll was still the head coach.

Much has changed in Seattle, and much has changed with the Cardinals, but Arizona hasn't improved much, partly because Kyler Murray was still on the team. Seattle has been busy rebuilding its team and winning a Super Bowl, and Murray has been busy getting his head coaches fired.

For those who believe in Kyler Murray, one must remember that once he came back from yet another injury this past season, the team decided to go with veteran Jacoby Brissett at QB. Brissett could run the offense better. Murray needed a specific offensive fit that few teams have.

At his best, Murray can create havoc with his running ability, but when he chooses to run makes little sense. He has started games against the Seattle Seahawks, for instance, by going on long jaunts, only to offer little in terms of scrambling again. He is inconsistent both in his decision-making, passing accuracy, and running efficiency.

The Arizona Cardinals were so desperate to get rid of him that the team was willing to eat $54,718,177 in dead cap and have negative cash by releasing him. If nothing else, that should tell the casual observer what an NFL team thinks about its chances of winning with Murray.

In three of his past four seasons, he has had a quarterback rating of 89.4 or less, a relatively poor number in today's NFL. He gets hurt too much and has played one full season since 2020. A team adding him should be aware of his issues. The sad part for the Seattle Seahawks is that he is leaving the NFC West because Kyler Murray was so easy to beat.
