Just before but not during.

The Seattle Seahawks cannot afford slick football in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos. Head coach Mike Macdonald's team already has enough issues with turnovers. Against a good Denver defense and a ball-control offense, a couple of turnovers can change the outcome. At least, the rain won't be a reason Seattle fumbles.

While the Denver area is expecting rain in the overnight hours on Thursday with winds gusting to as much as 15 mph, by the time the game begins at 5:15 pm PT (6:15 pm Denver time), the chance of precipitation is zero, and the winds should be diminishing.

Throughout the game, conditions should improve. The only slight concern is cooler weather, as North America is beginning to remember that it's autumn by this weekend. Still, according to the Weather Channel, temperatures should be no lower than the mid-40s, which is just fine for a football game.

The weather should not be an issue when the Seattle Seahawks play the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football

In fact, while the winds might still be slightly high at kickoff, the last chance of rain is 10 am Denver time, so there should be no lingering precipitation, even for those attending the game and getting to Empower Field at Mile High early. No raincoats or umbrellas needed.

Instead, fans can hope that the recent turnover problems cease for the Seahawks. Quarterback Sam Darnold has thrown five interceptions over the three games he has played (he's technically played in four, but only appeared for one series in Week 1 against the New England Patriots), including an interception on his first throw in the last two games.

That cannot happen against a Broncos team that doesn't have an explosive offense. Seattle cannot afford to give Denver any help in terms of field position.

That includes running backs fumbling, too. Seattle has fumbled nine times this season and lost four of them. That, of course, means nine turnovers total in five games, and that is no way to try to repeat as Super Bowl champions. That is a way to completely miss the playoffs, actually.

Still, thinking positively, the Seattle Seahawks have already lucked out on the weather for Thursday Night Football, so maybe the bit of good luck will roll over to not turning the ball over, too. That might be all it takes for Mike Macdonald's team to get a road win and move to 4-2. Every good team needs some good luck too.
