The Seattle Seahawks and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be together for at least six more seasons through 2031, and there was much rejoicing from all involved. In fact, the First-Team All-Pro wide receiver only needed three different letters in a tweet to prove his happiness.
After JSN's new four-year extension, one that will pay him a maximum of $168.6 million, was reported, he posted on X, "SEAAAAA." Oddly, the tweet didn't get a bunch of "HAWKS!" reactions, but instead mostly people congratulating the player. That makes sense, too, but every Seattle fan knows if someone suddenly bursts out "Sea..." the follow-up is obvious.
Still, the main bit is having the wide receiver back for the foreseeable future. While he has spent three seasons in the NFL, he is still only 24 years old. But by the time the final year of his rookie deal, his fifth-year option, and his new extension are done, he will still only be 29 years old.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba takes to X to celebrate new extension with the Seattle Seahawks
He might have earned yet another extension after that for a few years. Let's hope he does, of course, because that would imply that Smith-Njigba has continued to have seasons much like the one he just had in 2025, when he led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,793, and helped his team win the Super Bowl.
Even if JSN's production slips to an average of 1,200 yards a season for the next six years, he will have the second-most receiving yards in franchise history. (Catching up to the legend that is Steve Largent might be difficult; the Pro Football Hall of Famer had 13,089 receiving yards and 100 touchdowns.)

The day that the extension was announced was made even better for fans by the Seattle Seahawks matching the offer sheet the Jacksonville Jaguars gave wide receiver Jake Bobo. Bobo and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will have completely different levels of raw statistics, of course, but each is valuable to the team.
Moreover, both appear to be great teammates both to each other and the rest of the team. Seattle is hopefully going to keep winning a high number of games because of both.
Everyone is going to notice the amount of money given to Smith-Njigba, though. He set the new standard for how much players at his position can get paid. He didn't boast about his greatness after the news was released.
Instead, he did what every good Seahawks player or fan would do and delivered a three-letter celebration, "Sea...!" Many read that and likely responded, "...Hawks!" in kind.
