After earning nearly $57 million for playing football alone, and not taking into account Marshawn Lynch's endorsements or other business agreements, the Seattle Seahawks legend could have probably done anything in life he wanted to. He chose to invest his salary instead of spending freely. He is as smart financially as he was as a player.
Lynch still has his highly successful Beast Mode clothing brand, and he could live off that money, too. Heck, maybe he does. Whatever else he does, he might just do so that he doesn't get fined. Or, well...not to get a paycheck. But he probably gets paid a good amount no matter what he does.
Lately, that includes a turn into acting. Lynch has been in things before, of course. He was hilarious in an episode of Will Arnett's Netflix show, Murderville. Every time he shows up on screen, he just appears to be all about that action. Seahawks fans know this if they have seen the recently released Love Hurts, where Lynch plays an enforcer but with a funny streak.
Seattle Seahawks icon Marshawn Lynch quickly getting acclimated to a new career
He previously appeared in the film Bottoms as a teacher. He comes across as a novice actor, which he is, but there are few people in the history of Earth that have the kind of charisma Lynch does. One is drawn to him for reasons we don't even understand sometimes. We just cannot stop watching to see what he does next.
In Bottoms, Lynch is unexpectedly funny and open to ideas. He tells things how they are, in his view. In other words, while he is not playing himself directly, he is playing a character not far removed from his real persona.
In Love Hurts, Lynch gets to use his elite athletic ability to help provide some light-hearted moments. His character wants to do his job well, of course, but life gets in the way sometimes.
But Lynch's acting career is not ending with Love Hurts. He is like just at the beginning of his new career arc. Fans of Max's Euphoria learned on Valentine's Day that Lynch will be part of the cast for Season 3. A social media response quoting Lynch after the announcement was made will sound familiar to some of the things the running back said when he played the Seahawks.
Lynch said, "I’m hella juiced about the show and getting a chance to work with the people in front and behind the camera. At the end of the day, I’m just thankful for the opportunity."
He isn't just on the series to get paid, clearly. He wants to know how an entire show works. Who knows? Maybe Marshawn Lynch's next step is to become a director.
