The Seattle Seahawks have almost everything in their favor to get back to the big game in 2026. They kept most of their core players and assistant coaches, they will have a fair schedule, and they already proved that they can take down any team on any given Sunday.
Nevertheless, they can't get complacent now. The NFC West is one of the toughest divisions in the pros, and the Los Angeles Rams caused them all sorts of trouble in their three matchups last season. They were tougher to beat in the NFC Championship Game than the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
As such, general manager John Schneider might not be thrilled to know that Les Snead might make a big splash in free agency. Per ESPN's Matt Bowen, the Rams could make a run at Stefon Diggs for their already stacked wide receiver room:
Stefon Diggs with the Rams would spell trouble for the Seattle Seahawks
"The Rams attempted 430 passes out of 11 personnel (three wide receivers) last season, which was ninth most in the league, and Diggs is a natural separator who can line up inside or outside," wrote Bowen. "Plus, he has the toughness to work the middle of the field on in-breaking concepts, a key element of coach Sean McVay's offense."
While the Seahawks did a great job of containing Diggs in the Super Bowl -- he had 3 catches on as many targets for 37 yards -- the Rams could find strength in numbers with his arrival. Unlike in New England, he wouldn't be the primary receiver there.
Instead, he'd help open things up for Davante Adams and the always dangerous Puka Nacua. That's not necessarily the fastest receiver corps, but they all have steady hands and excel at creating separation and winning in heavily-contested situations. That's not good.
Diggs' best years are behind him, but he's more than capable of having a throwback performance every now and then. More than that, he'd be another guy to keep an eye on, which ultimately means that Nacua will likely have to face single coverage.
If the Rams do sign Diggs, which is a big 'if,' the Seahawks might want to pay them back with a similar move. There are still some proven veterans in free agency who could give this team an offensive boost, like Deebo Samuel or Tyreek Hill. They could even try to get Brandon Aiyuk. It's a long shot, of course, but they can't fall behind in the divisional race.
As things stand now, the Seahawks are the team to beat. They have a huge target on their backs, and everybody will be aiming for their crown, so it wouldn't be shocking to see the Rams make another move to get back at them in 2026.
